unless clearly ID’d as aftermarket. We also sell new
OE headlight and taillight parts and assemblies through our NEW

How to use our search
engine?
1. Follow the steps— first put in your zip code
(so you can get a delivered price), then
2. Find your make and model. This
can be confusing. For example, “Ford F250” covers 1975-1999
while “Ford F250SD” covers 2000-2006. You must put in exactly
the right model to find the right part.
Year asks for the date vehicle is titled as
- note that production dates for cars built in 9/00 may be titled 2001.
If you are not sure, check the 10th digit of your VIN
# (on title or door plate).

3. Then, scroll through the part types to find what
you are looking for -
(Engine identification is important for identifying
many parts. This guide is to help you
find what you need to know.)
For example: If you need to know the size of a
Audi or VW engine, search under “engine” for codes.
Audi-VW IDs their engines by the 5th
digit:
WVGCM77L94D070570 M = 8-4.2L Toureg engine
Chrysler IDs their engines by the 8th
digit. This includes Dodge, Jeep,
Plymouth , and Mitsubishi
Ford IDs their engines by the 8th
digit. This includes Lincoln, Mercury,
and Mazda.
GM IDs their engine by the 8th
digit also. This includes Buick, Cadillac,
Chevrolet, GMC, Hummer,
Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and Saab.
Information about other makes is similarly provided
in our search engine and on content pages per make on our site.
Transmission identification is similar.
Audi –VW uses 3
digit codes that are stamped into the bell housing and not
always easily readable. This code can also be found on a tag in
the trunk spare tire well.
Chrysler transmissions can be identified by knowing
the engine size, 2wd (2 wheel drive) or 4wd, manual or automatic, etc.
There is a TIN (transmission id number) stamped on
the right (passenger) side of the transmission housing.
This is not usually necessary to know.
Ford transmissions are described by the “family”
they belong to. First know the engine size. Then you may have to check
the transmission itself for ID. Some oil pans are stamped clearly enough
to read the type.
GM transmissions can be identified by first knowing
the engine size, trans type (auto 4x4) and the 3
digit option code, usually found in the glove box (option M30).
It is sometimes necessary to count the number of bolts on the transmission’s
oil pan. Example: 4L80E has 17 bolts, 4L60E has 16.
What is a core
policy?
Most of the the parts displayed are sold without core charge or the need to return core.
When a core is required, it is noted in the description field. Cherry
Auto Parts accepts the replaced unit back for full credit when returned
regardless of condition (must be assembled) Cherry Auto Parts pays freight
for core returns.
What is covered?
Used Parts are sold with a 6 month (180 day) warranty to fit and work
properly with a full replacement or refund policy.
Used Engines sold by us are guaranteed as good long blocks unless specifically
stated.
We generally supply engines taken out of other vehicles with most parts
left on, such as the intake & exhaust manifolds, crank pulley, water
pump, etc. – accessories such as the a/c compressor, distributor,
turbo or supercharger, starter, and alternator are not included.<
Parts that should be inspected and replaced include the outer engine
gaskets and crank seals as oil leaks are not covered. The head gasket(s)
are guaranteed. Engines with timing belts should have them replaced,
and new thermostats should be installed on all.
All internal engine parts including the engine block and cylinder head(s)
are guaranteed to factory-recommended tolerances and pressures. Part
replacement warranties cover shipping costs on defective units.
Transmissions are similarly warranted. Outer seals and gaskets should
be replaced. Automatics are supplied with torque convertors; filters
should be replaced.
Can I believe the displayed
mileage?
The mileages displayed (except those listed as 1k) come
from the signed off federal odometer statements supplied by the insurance
companies with title to the vehicle. Network members are committed to
a code of ethics to supply the most accurate information possible
What does 1k mean?
Mileages that are signed off by the insurance companies as “unknown”
and are from cars with digital speedometers that cannot be “lit
up” (or missing speedometers) are displayed as “1k”
due to a software issue. Please confirm mileage range with a salesperson.
These parts are supplied with a full range of warranty options
Is the part found in the
Used Part search guaranteed to fit correctly?
Yes. Only exact interchanges are displayed.
If there is a significant change required, it will not display.
Will other parts fit that
will work not be displayed?
Yes. We have many parts that are “interchangeable”
with minor modifications, such as: A 1999 Audi A4 1.8 engine can be
replaced with a 2000 VW Passat 1.8 engine by changing the intake manifold.
This option IS NOT DISPLAYED. Consult your mechanic (at your
own risk) OR consult us –
we will stand behind the information we provide.
Do You sell Japanese
Domestic Market (JDM) engines?
NO.We sell U.S. Federal- and California -spec emission engines only
– we do not offer Japanese “converted” engines, as we
no longer believe these engines are in our customer’s best interest
for a number of reasons. Many internal parts are different from US spec
& generally impossible to find. These engines may be of
value for tuners & experienced engine modifiers.
What if I order the wrong
part?
It is your responsibility to make sure the ordering information is correct.
We are available to check your VIN # and help you thru the ordering process
Monday thru Friday, 8:00 – 6:00 EST.
What is the Standard
Warranty?
Cherry Auto Parts offers a standard 180 day part only warranty.
Returns may be made within 30 days. We cover freight and repair or replacement
of defective parts (or full refunds) at our discretion.
For those looking for longer term part warranties, we offer 1
and 2 year options.
Are there any major
disclaimers to the warranty?
Yes. Parts are not covered to damages from abuse. For
example, engines that are overheated or run without proper lubrication
will void the warranty. We attach a heat sensitive tab to all engines
that melt at 260F. (127C.) It is the customer’s responsibility to
make sure the cooling system is checked and in good working order, and
that oil changes are documented and performed on a regular basis. It is
also the customer’s responsibility to make sure the timing belt
is fresh and installed properly. Timing belt failure is not covered. We
recommend a new timing belt, front and rear main seals, and thermostat
at the time of installation, as well as a thorough check of the cooling
system.
Is there a Labor Protection
Warranty?
Yes, for qualified ASE certified shops or OE dealerships
only. Details – 1 or 2 year warranty covers labor for repair or
replacement of the long block only; to be paid by flat rate at $40.00/hour.
No rentals, loss of use compensation, or towing fees are included. Shipping
of replacement engine is paid for by the supplier. The shop must
call for pricing.
